This is the first of three photographs provided by the Historical Archive of the Basque Country, by the Portugalete artist Juantxu Rodríguez (1957-1989). He was killed by U.S. marines while working as a war photo-journalist covering the American invasion of Panama in 1989 for the newspaper El País, together with the journalist Maruja Torres. He left behind over 25,000 photographs which are held at the Archive of the Basque Country. He worked for Deia, El País, La Vanguardia, Tribuna Vasca, Liberátion, Newsweek, and The New York Times.
